How do they mould carbon fiber parts whose outer and inner halves differ?

Like when a hood has an underside that's more skeletal or picture frame like
or when a dashboard trim piece is flat on one side and has long deep screw threads beneath?
I've always envisioned the "outer"/vanity piece and the "inner"/skeletal piece being separately molded, filled with fiberglass/resin filler, and welded together. Would this be accurate?
Can you weld two carbon fiber molds or is there a super heavy duty glue?
